Star Date - Jan 15, 2011 Well, its the middle of Jan. and the band just played at Sam and Gregs. see the result on video page. Joining us was Pete Politis on congas and Ron Hinkle on alto sax. The highlight of the evening had to be Pete sinking to a new low by breaking his chair in mid tune. See photo below. I am happy to report that Pete's health is much improved after a couple of nights in the hospital with gall bladder removal. And I am ecstatic as is the rest of the jazz community to hear the miraculous recovery of Steve Motz, tenor sax. If he hadn't been waiting in the airport , rather than in mid air , in other words, he would probably be wouldn't be with us. Steve is resting at home in Huntsville now and hopes to be playing again very soon. Que Rico will be appearing along with CG and Friends at The Flying Monkey Arts Center at Lowe Mill on Feb. 25, 7.30. Admission is 10 bucks. For those of you who haven't experienced the Monkey, it's a trip. And you can bring your own beverage, alcoholic or not. Park on the south side for the closest entry. There is a freight elevator. The theater is on the second floor. Or park next to the water tower and go through the red door and walk up steps. ![]() below left to right. is Pete Harrisson, Devere Pride, Larry Janzen, Chip Gulbro at Sam and Gregs. ![]() |
